ARCHAEOLOGY

All the dry weather we had in July has, as you may expect reduced the level of water in the River Dane to its lowest level for some time . This as can be seen from the photograph below has had the result of exposing more of the timber structure.

The photograph below is taken from the bank directly above the structure. The rectangular piece of wood in the center is not part of the structures timber's

The next image is a close up of the top center of the previous photograph

You can clearly see two long timbers forming an angle of about 30 to 35 degrees. I don't know if they are physically connected as I did not wish to disturb anything.

This next close-up is of the angle where the two previous timbers meet. Framed in red is the end of a third substantial timber projecting from underneath the two other timbers.
