With a mere 26mm of rain this is our driest January since we started making records of our rainfall.
In fact there was so little rain that concerns were being voiced about water shortages. It may not have been very wet, but it was a very grey month with lots of cloud. I recall someone one one of the news programs calling it a "grey drought"
On an annual note a late burst of damp weather saw 2005 with 724mm of rain nudge 2001 out of 3rd place for wettest year. 2nd goes to 2004 with 896mm, while 2002 takes first place for the wettest year with 900mm. Well, thats it for this month. Why not start your own weather station and see how you data matches ours. More next month Phil
