PLUMBING THE CUBICAL SHED
Home page

Collecting TankRainwater pipeThe first stage was to install the collecting tank (left) and then to connect the rainwater pipe. This acts as filler and overflow.

Outlet Connector
The tank needed a special connector to alter the threads on the outlet to a recognised thread and thanks to Lewis and Mason of Telford for supplying the part and to Steve from the U.K Business Agriculture newsgroup

(see the group by clicking this link www.newsgate.co.uk/uk/uk.business.agriculture/index )
Or visit Steve's farm at www.dexterbeef.co.uk

Connection to existing plumbingMap showing supply to field tanksWe then connected the pipe to the existing water supply for the cubical shed (having turned the mains off first).
The roof water will fill the tank with 1000 litres in approx 4 hours of steady rain.

Due to the farms plumbing system, the cubical shed and field tanks are separate to the farmhouse so we can also supply most of the farm with this system. The map on the right shows the location of the tanks (light blue) supplied.

Given that a cow drinks around 70 litres of water per day this should use a lot of rainwater.

This summer we will see if the system works
