A Crow on the Drive FieldThis month we start with one of phil's favorite birds, the humble Crow.

Honestly Phil loves this birds, he will feed them lead any time despite the cost. He has even purchased several dedicated dispensors to ensure that they get what they need.

The crow is a clever, crafty scavenger, it will kill and eat any small animal it can catch. It will also raid the nests of other birds for eggs and young.

This makes it a prime target for the gamekeepers on the estate who need to keep it away from the nesting game birds that they are raising.

This next photograph, well pair of photographs shows the same view one year apart.

Simon mowing the drive fieldThis next photograph is for all you hayfever sufferers.

What appears to be smoke is actually grass pollen being disturbed by the cutting action of the mower.

Now if you think that this release of pollen by the mower would be bad for you, spare a thought for this young chap.

Young rabbitHe had come out of the grass behind the mower and lay down on the top of the mown grass.

As I approached to make use of the photo opportunity it became clear why.

Close up of mower bladesHe had not moved out of the path of the mower quickly enough and had been eviscerated by it.

The photograph on the right shows a close up of the mower blades.

Not something to argue with.

Bumblebee takes off from buttercupAlso disturbed by the approaching mower was this Red-tailed Bumble bee.

The photograph captured it as it departed from a buttercup and the mower approached.

WoodpeckerSomewhat less disturbed by the actions of the mower below was this Spotted Woodpecker.

These birds have become very common in the last couple of years and their rapid tapping can frequently be heard in the trees.

Jodrell Bank radio telescopeFinally this month we have a photograph of the huge radio telescope dish at Jodrell Bank as it peers to the heavens in search of the nature of the universe

Well that's all for now

See you next time, Andy
