Outside Nantwhich Civic HallThis was an event organised by the NFU to promote British food and I attended with the trailer (outside the hall).

The event was very well supported with local firms and farmers offering food to buy and taste.

Bob and June WilkinsonThis picture is Bob & June Wilkinson who produce real dairy ice cream at their farm at Great Budworth near Northwich (I personally sampled the marzipan flavour: excellent!).

Andrew Shufflebottom of Cheerbrook Farm Foods is seen giving local Member of Parliament Gwynneth Dunwoody some baconAlso represented were the "Ladies In Pigs" who promote British pig products. They were cooking samples with bacon and pork and doing a fine trade. Andrew Shufflebottom of Cheerbrook Farm Foods is seen giving local Member of Parliament Gwynneth Dunwoody some bacon. Also pictured are Andrew's Mother, Miranda Shufflebottom from Ladies In Pigs and John Bull in his Union Jack suit.

The most Famous candidate from the London Mayor election Winnie The Pig from Westminster. Winnie is a 2 year old gilt that spent 3 months outside the Houses of Parliament! The local MP was not the only celebrity. We also had the Mayor of Nantwich and the most Famous candidate from the London Mayor election Winnie The Pig from Westminster. Winnie is a 2 year old gilt that spent 3 months outside the Houses of Parliament!

I also saw a friend on the Belton Cheese (from Shropshire) stand and was given more samples visit them at www.beltoncheese.co.uk for more details. I also purchased some breakfast cereals from the Mornflake Oats stand. To find out more visit them on www.mornflakeoats.co.uk , however the rest of the family saw to it that I didn't get many.

Some people I spoke to thought that this was a farmer's market (where farmers sell direct to the public) with the array of produce I understood the mistake. I have recently been told of such and organisation online its called www.farmdirect.fsnet.co.uk

Finally apologies if this page reads like an advert but the links are interesting more apologies to those not mentioned in this report.

Further bulletins to be posted from the travels with the trailer.

NFU regional director Steve Heaton P.S Thanks to the NFU regional director Steve Heaton pictured here for providing me with the photos.
