HEBDEN GREEN SCHOOL
Home page

As I have already said I count Hebden as "regulars" and the juniors are presently studying peoples jobs and asked me to talk about being a farmer.

The visit was planned with the trailer but the cold weather prevented this as it would have been too much for the young animals and could have made them ill.

However undaunted I went as a guest speaker.

I took a variety of feeds with me to illustrate the working life on a farm,

I included a silage sample, which went down very well (due to the smell) and described the summer/winter working of the farm.

Questions and answers followed with question of the day (these kids pull no punches) being "do you make much money?"

Not ducking I suggested they look up the price per pint of milk and bear in mind we receive around 9p/pt and think about it.

These pictures are of the class and of the rather camera shy teachers who needed encouragement from myself and the children for a group photo.

Thank you for asking me Hebden and as promised, "I'll be back" (who uses that catchphrase?) In the summer with the trailer.
