As you saw with the quiz competition
the young farmers have plenty to do and the annual entertainment competition
has been running since 1972.
The competition involves the club putting on a ½ hour show this
can be a serious play or a comedy show. Mostly they opt for comedy and
the Middlewich club had won 7 times since its start.
Mathew
our straw man is the chairman of the Stretton club and here he is playing
"Granville" in their version of the UK TV show "Open
all Hours"
The Knutsford club gave us their version of the 3 Musketeers in which
the hero had to rescue princess Soufflé from the evil Cardinal
Croissant.
Middlewich's
performance was based on Cinderella with Lucy playing the down trodden
Blondie her dame sisters Guernsey and Jersey with the farmer seeking
the wife being John Deere with his friend David Brown.
Simon
and Hannah (center) played village idiots!!! brought in to help while
Blondie went to the Ball meeting the "man of her dreams" while
helped by her fairy godmother.
Winners 2002 Entertainments MIDDLEWICH
YFC here they are collecting their trophies

Finally a mention must go to Alison,
James, Richard, Andrew and Trish the backstage helpers who didn't appear
on stage but who were just as important.
Did you understand all that WE didn't!!

This
year bonfire night, (November 2nd in our case), was wet. The only 2
dry hours that day were when we lit the fire and set off the fireworks
as these photos show.
However the bonfire has to be built and
thanks must go to Mark and Thomas for helping along with the regulars
with the job. We were soaked but the dry wood from PBM fencing plus
a bale of straw and 5 litres of diesel made the fire burn well.
Here
is Mark with Daughter Lydia at the fire.
The event has grown and this year we
had around 70 adults and children.
The cellar proved a big hit with all
the kids but we don't quite know wether it was the bar or the pool table
with the older teens!
Dorothy
and Margot had worked all day cleaning and preparing a hot pot supper
helped by Paul pictured here was kept busy peeling and chopping the
eye watering onions.
Well worth it despite all the work.
